Rakesh Jhunjhunwala started investing in the stock market in 1985 with a capital of only 5,000 rupees and today he has raised the same 5000 rupees to 8,000 crores.
Beginning: Beginning
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was born in Mumbai on 5 July 1960. When Rakesh was 15-16 years old. His father was a little interested in the stock market. After seeing him, Rakesh also started getting interested in him, so one day Rakesh asked his father how these prices are up and down in the stock market. So Rakesh’s father said – “After reading the newspaper, the shares of the company about which the news has come, will be down.” Rakesh got his first learning about the stock market that day.
From the same age, Rakesh’s interest also started increasing in the Stock Investment. They started reading about different companies and taking information.
He completed his bachelor’s degree from Sidneyham College. Rakesh expressed his father’s desire to go to the stock market, so his father said do what you want to do but get professional education first. So he completed Chartered Accountant (CA).
First Investment: There was no money for investment
When Rakesh gave his C.A. When he completed his studies, he told his father that I have to go to the stock market. So my father said that I will not give him money and you will not even take money from your friends.
In this way, Rakesh entered the stock market in 1985 when BSE Sensex was at 150 points. He came to the Share Market, but he did not have the money to invest, so he deposited as much of his savings as possible and made his first investment with about Rs 5000.
First Big Profit: Rakesh Jhunjhunwala First Big Profit
Rakesh made his first big profit on his ability and hard work in 1986. He bought 5000 shares of Tata Tea Company for Rs 43 per share and sold them after 3 months at Rs 143 per share. Due to this, Rakesh made a profit of Rs. 5 lakhs. After that between 1986 and 1989, Rakesh made a profit of Rs. 20 to 25 lakhs.
In 2002-03, Rakesh bought 6 crore shares of Titan Company for Rs 3 per share and later the price of those shares rose to Rs 390 per share. Due to which his investment went beyond 2100 crores.
Success Mantra: Experience
Rakesh ji says that you can learn from mistakes only. Unless you accept your mistakes and learn something from them, you will not move forward. Rakesh ji believes that investors should always be like chameleons. And it is very important for investors to trust themselves while investing.
According to Rakesh – Everyone gains in the stock market boom and losses during the recession. So it does not matter whether I am on the rich list or not. My simple and easy mantra is – “Buy Right and Hold Tight” which means buying the right share and hold it.
